The white envelope is a much more economical, practical option if your client were actually to adopt the stationary- it would be cheaper to produce since there is less bleed (could even be printed on some home inkjet printers). But I think for the assignment the black and grey look better. It's a tough call to say which of those looks better. The black looks sharper because there it offers more contrast for the light copy and logo....but black is kind of cliche, which makes the grey one kind of refreshing.
